PetSmat Experience - PETSMART

A friend posted this on Facebook - How sad. - So I was at PetSmart today, and I stopped and watched some dogs being groomed. I have never watched dogs being groomed in a store before, so I don't know if what I saw was "normal" or not but it really disturbed me so much that I took a video. I certainly don't groom my dog in the manner that I saw. I am hoping someone can tell me. I witnessed a small dog being made to stand on its front paws only with her back legs held together straight up in the air while the groomer shaved her underbelly from one end to the other. He then grabbed her roughly by the top of the head to shave around her neck and his finger was in her eye the whole time. The other mid-sized black dog was almost done, had its tail tucked so far under it that at first I thought it didn't have one at all. The one that disturbed me the most was the treatment of this huge boy that this girl was working on. I don't know what breed he was but a big fancy breed and not one I have seen before. The girl grooming him was making him cry out in pain and as I watched, I was horrified at her treatment. At one point she grabbed his private and squeezed as she pushed him into a sitting position, even though he was being very docile and patient, even when clearly she was pushing and digging the clippers into his skin harder than one needs to. When he sat down, he had a huge red streak on the side of his private area made by the clippers. She was really grabbing him and running the clippers really hard on his body, especially his legs because you could see him wince in pain and when she keep on, he would look at her and cry. It really was quite disturbing to watch. I thought about asking for a manager, but the way the rest of the staff didn't seem fazed by this display of handling and the dog crying in pain, I figured all they would do is convince me that everything was ok. If that is how PetSmart on East Kellogg treats peoples pets with customers watching...how do they treat them in the back room? I know one thing is for sure: I would not take my pet rock to be groomed at PetSmart! :0(
